| In many villages the women installed so called Seed Wealth Centers, traditional huts that serve for the collection, storage and preservation of seeds. In some of this huts up to 700 different varieties of rice only and several hundred different vegetable seeds are kept. The conservation of seeds is a difficult task since every variety needs to be treated differently, in order to deliver the best outcome when planted. Some seeds need to be dried quickly in bright sun, others need to be stored in complete darkness or at a certain temperature. |
